Oak handles
This is the oak heart handle I made for a set of wardrobes. It has a magnet set inside. On each Ogee moulded door there is a magnet set into the oak. The idea means the warobes appear to not have handles. When the handle isn’t being used it can stay on one of the doors or be put somewhere else in the room
Applied moulding
Making doors is one of my favourite things to make. These have an applied moulding on the surface. I will be fitting these tomorrow on wardrobes and cabinets I have made for a home in Kemptown, Brighton.
I used my Paslode pin gun to fit them into position with a small line of glue to prevent any creep.

Bifold doors
Today I have been hanging doors for a set of fitted wardrobes for a home in Brighton.
The doors are made from 25mm MDF with a solid tulip lipping on the hinged edge and on the shut edge. This creates a robust edge and it also creates a great surface to screw the hinges to the door.
The hinges are 3inch polished brass Cooke Brothers hinges. They are really good quality and they have great customer service.
The doors will have teal locks fitted for security.
The shut lines are 1.5mm. Which, once painted will give a proportional shut line.

Glazed doors
This week I have made quite a few things but the glazed doors have to be my favourite.
Made from solid Utile hardwood they machined really well using my Ogee cutter bought from Axminster tool centre. With all jobs thinking ahead is key and I made sure that I cut the tenon moulding on the glazed bars while they were just over double the size. Then I cut them down the middle and ran the moulding along the length. This made a much more stable work piece.
Glueing up I tried a new glue today called Titebond it seems to work well and cleans up after initial spill out with a wet cloth.
Cramping I had to improvise to make the longer with a bit of wood. See pictures. The pictures show the doors in cramps. Next step carcase
